responsAbility and Ngernturbo Partner on USD 15 Million Loan to Expand Credit Access for Thailand’s Underserved

The three-year loan supports Ngernturbo’s commitment to finance underserved borrowers and marks its first funding from an international impact investor.

Bangkok, Thailand / Zurich, Switzerland – 20 October 2026 – responsAbility Investments AG (“responsAbility”), a leading Swiss impact asset manager, and Ngernturbo Public Company Limited (“Ngernturbo”, SET: TURBO), a non-bank financial services provider operating under the Bank of Thailand’s supervision, today announced a USD 15 million three-year loan facility.  The senior unsecured facility was disbursed on 1 October 2026 and is responsAbility’s first investment in Ngernturbo. It reflects responsAbility’s commitment to backing institutions that widen access to finance in emerging markets, and Ngernturbo’s strengthened governance and balance sheet following its 2025 listing on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

The financing will support Ngernturbo’s small-ticket lending across its nationwide network, expanding formal financial access for individuals and micro-entrepreneurs underserved by commercial banks. For Ngernturbo, this long-term, cross-border funding from a global impact asset manager is a first step in diversifying its funding base, complementing its long-standing domestic bank relationships with international capital partners.

In Thailand, while bank account ownership is widespread, access to formal credit remains uneven: many lower-income salaried workers, farmers, and self-employed people have limited documented income and thin credit histories, putting commercial bank loans out of reach. Without access to bank credit, many working households turn to unregulated informal lenders that charge far higher rates. Ngernturbo offers a regulated and transparent alternative, allowing borrowers to use everyday assets such as motorcycles, cars and land titles to access formal credit.

Founded in 2017, Ngernturbo opened its first branch in Nonthaburi province in 2018 and has since grown to 1,004 branches across 54 provinces, placing a physical touchpoint within a 20-minute journey for its customers. Its lean, seven-day-a-week storefront network is complemented by a proprietary mobile app, keeping operating costs low and credit underwriting close to local communities. Operating strictly within the Bank of Thailand’s responsible-lending framework—including capped interest rates, affordability assessments, and debt-service ratio limits—Ngernturbo expanded its loan portfolio by 11.3% year-on-year to THB 12.0 billion (approximately USD 360 million) as of 30 June 2026. This disciplined expansion, accompanied by improving asset quality and a strengthened post-IPO capital base, is reflected in Ngernturbo’s BBB- corporate credit rating with a Positive outlook from TRIS Rating.

Ashish Malik, Investment Officer, Financial Inclusion at responsAbility, said: “Ngernturbo reaches the people Thailand’s banks still struggle to serve – rural households, women and small entrepreneurs who own assets and earn a living, but lack the paperwork that bank credit requires. What stood out for Ngernturbo was the depth of its branch network in rural Thailand, the step-up in governance, and transparency since its listing last year. We are pleased to support its next phase of growth with long-term funding that complements its domestic bank relationships.”

Sutach Ruangsuttipap, Chief Executive Officer of Ngernturbo, said: “Our customers are farmers, market vendors, motorcycle-taxi drivers, and small-shop owners. They have ambition and the discipline to repay; what they lack is access to formal credit, which too often pushes hard-working families toward costly informal debt. Traditional lenders see risk—we see potential, and by providing regulated, fairly priced financing, we help bring these borrowers into the formal economy where our strong repayment record bears out their reliability. Welcoming responsAbility as our first international impact lender is a meaningful validation of our responsible-lending model and the institutional governance we have built since our IPO. Securing this three-year facility on an unsecured basis demonstrates the confidence global investors place in our balance sheet and risk management, laying a strong foundation as we continue to broaden our relationships with international lenders and institutional investors.”
